BOSCA Announces 2027 Spring Workshop in Kansas City
Event to take place at Johnson County Community College on February 22, 2027

BOSCA announced today plans to host a one-day regional workshop in Kansas City in Spring 2027. The event will take place on the campus of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS on Monday, February 22, 2027.
BOSCA regional workshops have been held in multiple regions across the country with great success. 2027 marks the 3rd time this event has been held in Kansas City. The workshop features a full day of professional development sessions led by small college athletic administrators in the region and opportunities for networking and idea sharing.
"Throughout my career, I've found that some of the most valuable professional growth comes from learning alongside colleagues who face similar challenges and opportunities,” said Greg McVey, athletic director at Kansas City Kansas Community College. BOSCA creates that environment better than anyone. Bringing this workshop to the Kansas City metro area is incredibly exciting, and I'm looking forward to seeing athletics professionals from across the region come together to learn, connect, and be inspired."
Registration for the workshop is open now and is affordably priced at $150 per administrator. Discounted group registration is offered to departments that plan to bring 4 or more staff members.
“The timing of the Spring regional workshop is ideal,” said Kristin Gillette, athletic director at Park University. “Hosting it at the beginning of the spring semester provides an opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and identify strategies that can be implemented in the upcoming academic year, just in time to inform budget planning and requests. Additionally, the regional format makes it possible to bring more staff members who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend longer, national conventions. We all come away with ideas that can directly benefit our department and institution.”
“The first regional workshop we ever held was in Kansas City,” said BOSCA founder Jim Abbott. “I look forward to the opportunity to reconnect with administrators in the region and feel certain that this will be a memorable event.”
The workshop features peer-led professional development sessions on a broad range of topics, small group and roundtable sessions, collateral materials and takeaways, and multiple opportunities to network and interact with other attendees. CLICK HERE for more information.

What Administrators are saying about BOSCA professional development:
“The BOSCA Convention is hands down the most relevant and insightful conference for small college administrators. Built, organized, and run by small college administrators; I always leave with impactful information to help my personal and professional growth.”
Josh Ealy, Athletic Director - Tusculum University
“The BOSCA Convention makes business relational. Attendees are in the same boat, and being in the same room together energizes us all to keep moving small college athletics forward. It's so encouraging to be around so many others who want to support, mentor, uplift, and push others towards success.”
Jesse Zabal, Associate Athletic Director – Loyola University New Orleans
“I've attended the NACDA Convention, and while I always find value in the networking and educational sessions, the Business of Small College Athletics Convention offers something different. BOSCA takes a deep dive into the real challenges and opportunities that leaders at small colleges face every day. The conversations are practical, relevant, and immediately applicable to improving the student-athlete experience. What sets BOSCA apart is the people. The leaders in the room are genuine, approachable, and invested in helping one another succeed. They freely share ideas, strategies, and lessons learned because they truly want to see other institutions thrive. The connections I made through BOSCA have already become valuable resources. If you're looking for authentic relationships, innovative ideas, and a network of leaders who are committed to making small college athletics better, BOSCA is an experience I highly recommend.”
Brad Kocher, Athletic Director – Texas A&M University - Victoria
“One of the greatest strengths of BOSCA is the willingness of its members to collaborate and invest in one another. The conference brings together outstanding leaders who are committed to sharing their experiences and helping to create success for each other. I always leave with new ideas, fresh perspectives, and renewed energy to return to campus.”
Nate Davis Athletic Director Northern State University
“The BOSCA Convention exceeded my expectations. It was one of the most practical and relevant professional development experiences I've had as an athletics administrator. I left with ideas I could immediately implement at Albany State University and connections with colleagues who understand the unique opportunities and challenges of small college athletics. BOSCA has created something that truly adds value, and I'm already looking forward to next year.”
Dr. Kristene Kelly, Albany State University
