Now more than ever successful athletic departments rely on external revenue to fund their programs.  Raising funds not only provides the means to elevate your program, in many cases it is essential to delivering a first class experience to your student-athletes.  For coaches, there is a growing expectation that they will be active in raising funds.  While some coaches have extensive experience and comfort raising funds, others have little experience or room for improvement.

Building Fundraising Skills

The BOSCA Fundamentals of Fundraising For Coaches program is designed to provide coaches with a deeper understanding of successful fundraising strategies and approaches.  The program will help coaches understand how to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.  It will also focus on providing strategies to promote giving and help coaches develop their vision for why giving is important.

This is designed to be a group training session for your entire coaching staff or a targeted session with a smaller group.  BOSCA will provide curriculum for staff to follow along with and lead a live session (60-90 minutes) virtually.  The session can be recorded for any staff members that miss the live training and BOSCA staff will be available as needed for follow up questions.  Training sessions will be scheduled based on mutual availability.

Cost:  $325 (per group) includes program materials, live virtual session,

and follow up.

(less than the cost to send one person to a conference or convention)

"Nelson University Athletics was fortunate enough to participate in a virtual training session on Fundamentals of Fundraising for Coaches. Our entire staff including head coaches, assistants, and GA's participated. Jim and his staff delivered a well thought out, challenging, and experience based presentation that was beneficial to everyone in the room. The presentation is structured in a manner that novices and experienced fundraisers can be educated on fundraising. The framework for how to think conceptually about fundraising flows into practical aspects that can be implemented by all involved. I would recommend Fundamentals of Fundraising for Coaches session for novices and experienced individuals."

Jesse Godding, Athletic Director - Nelson University

“Like most institutions, we have a need to significantly increase our athletic fundraising efforts at Indiana Wesleyan University. I participated in the BOSCA Revenue Generation Academy and that confirmed some initiatives that were already underway, assisted in forming new ideas and events for us to consider, and allowed for rapid growth by listening to multiple industry leaders. We later engaged BOSCA to come to campus in a consulting role. Their work was vital in improving relationships with other departments and leaders on campus by allowing them to see data and opportunities from another perspective. It also allowed me to reframe my view of what was a reasonable expectation for university advancement and to better understand development strategies and approaches that will positively impact our efforts. It was money well spent, and I would do it again.”
