BOSCA Leadership Academy Announced

Academy designed to facilitate the growth and development of small college athletic directors.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA – Business of Small College Athletics (BOSCA) Founder Jim Abbott announced today the creation of the BOSCA Leadership Academy to provide leadership training for athletic directors at small colleges and universities. The academy builds on the success of the annual BOSCA workshop and will provide in-depth training, structured mentoring, and networking for small college athletic administrators.

“I remember well my first years as an athletic director, said BOSCA Founder Jim Abbott.” I was overwhelmed and underprepared for the plethora of issues that I had to deal with. I would have loved to have had a group of peers that was led by veteran administrators that I could rely on to help me understand priorities and navigate challenges. The BOSCA Leadership Academy is designed to provide just that, said Abbott.”

Abbott will work together with John Phillips, Athletic Director at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, to create the academy coursework and lead monthly sessions. “Unlike most conventions that last a couple of days and provide you with a variety of sessions…some that you aren’t really interested in. The academy is designed over a five-month period which allows participants to really digest the information that is discussed and come back with pertinent questions that relate to things happening on their campus now, said Phillips”

The cohort for the BOSCA Leadership Academy will be limited to 20 participants. For more information or to register visit the website at www.smallcollegeathletics.com/leadership
