BOSCA Announces Regional Workshop in South Carolina

Professional development designed for small college athletic administrators

The Business of Small College Athletics (BOSCA) will host its third one-day regional workshop to be held in South Carolina in Spring, 2024. The one-day event will be hosted on the campus of North Greenville University on Monday, February 19, 2024.

BOSCA was founded in 2012 to provide more relevant professional development and networking opportunities to non-Division I athletic administrators. BOSCA has offered an annual workshop in Oklahoma City since 2012 and added virtual programming through the BOSCA Leadership Academy and BOSCA Revenue Generation Academy in 2021. In 2023 BOSCA hosted regional one-day workshops in Kansas City and Kutztown, PA.

“In many cases, the biggest hurdle to professional development is the cost”, said BOSCA founder Jim Abbott. “As a result, less and less staff members get an opportunity to participate in growth opportunities. I’m excited to work together with the steering committee to create a convenient and affordable opportunity for small college administrators in the region to come together to grow, network, and learn.”

“Bringing a BOSCA Regional Workshop to the Carolinas is going to benefit many small college athletic administrators in our region”, said BOSCA board member and Converse University Athletic Director Jenn Bell.   “This regional workshop will enable our peers to grow their network and add more tools to their administrative toolkits. BOSCA is about connecting small college athletic professionals facing similar challenges and opportunities, while also providing professional development that is relevant to their everyday experiences and can be implemented almost immediately when they return to their campuses. I am so thankful for what I have gained through my involvement with BOSCA, and I look forward to seeing my regional peers grow alongside me in February.”

“North Greenville University is proud to host this BOSCA regional workshop”, said NGU Athletic Director Jan McDonald. “This event offers athletic administrators in the Carolinas region an opportunity to share and discuss topics with other athletic administrators from smaller colleges and universities. Peers coming together is a great way to gain ideas and knowledge that have and may work well for them in their athletic programs.”

Registration for this event is open now and the cost to attend is only $135 per person. Registration includes a full day of workshop sessions, workshop takeaways, and lunch. Attendance at this event is limited and the deadline to register is Monday, February 12, 2024.
